1 山形大学医学部は1973年に開設され、まもなく創立50周年となります。この間、山形県唯一の医育機関として数多くの医師、看護師を輩出してきました。その結果、山形県内の多くの医療機関で本学出身の医療人が中心的な役割を占めるようになっています。 また、本学はさまざまな先進的な取り組みを行なってきました。 教育の分野ではStudentDoctorという呼称は今では標準的な呼称となりましたが、本学でいち早く臨床実習に臨む学生に付与していました。学生実習も本学では地域の病院を含んだ長期の実習を先駆けて導入しています。医療人としてのキャリアの発展について、学部教育のみならず卒後教育についても循環型の医療人育成を行なっており、この取り組みは多くの卒業生が県内の医療機関での研修を志望する結果となって現れています。 研究についても、コホート研究を2000年代より行なっており、さらに21世紀COEに選定されてからは規模を山形全県的に拡げてゲノム情報を含めた先進的な研究として展開しています。このコホート研究は、二次調査が行なわれておりアウトカムについての集積が待たれています。 さらに臨床についても、多職種・多領域の医療職が幅広く討論するキャンサートリートメントボード（CTB）をいち早く導入し、質の高いがん診療を行なってきました。 近年がんについてより精度の高い医療を行なうがんゲノム診療拠点病院にも選定されています。さらに東北・北海道地区では初となる重粒子線照射装置を導入し既に治療を開始しています。 近年の新型コロナウイルス感染症に対しても感染制御を行ない可能な限りの対策を行なって教育・研究・診療を継続しています。 本学の建学の精神は「人間性豊かな、考える医師の養成」です。このミッションに応えるべく全ての教職員が叡智の限りを尽くして責任感をもち邁進してまいります。Established in 1973, Yamagata University Faculty of Medicine will soon celebrate its 50th anniversary. Over the years, as the only medical teaching institution in Yamagata prefecture, the Faculty has produced many doctors and nurses, with the result that its graduates now play a central role in many of Yamagata prefecture's medical institutions.In addition, the Faculty has been involved in a range of state-of-the-art initiatives.The term "student doctor" is now standard in the field of teaching, and it was first given to the students who took part in this Faculty's training. And the Faculty was also a pioneer in introducing long-term teaching placements at local hospitals for student doctors. In the development of our graduates' careers as medical professionals, we provide a cyclic form of medical training that encompasses not only undergraduate training, but also training for postgraduates, and this initiative has resulted in many of our graduates wishing to train at medical institutions and facilities within the prefecture.In terms of research, we have been conducting cohort studies since the 2000s, and since being selected for the 21st Century COE Program, we have expanded the scale of this research to cover the whole of Yamagata prefecture and are developing it as state-of-the-art research that includes genome information. The cohort study is currently undergoing secondary examination, and we are awaiting the accumulation of outcomes in the study.Also, with regard to clinical practice, the Faculty was among the first to introduce a Cancer Treatment Board (CTB) to facilitate wide ranging discussion among multi-disciplinary professionals, and has been able to provide high quality cancer treatment.In recent years, the Faculty has also been designated a cancer genomics core hospital, at which more highly precise cancer treatment can be provided. Furthermore, we have introduced the first heavy ion radiotherapy devices into the Tohoku / Hokkaido region, and have begun to provide treatment with them.We also have continued to provide teaching, research and medical treatment during the COVID 19 pandemic, introducing measures to prevent infection wherever possible.The University's founding spirit is "Training of thinking doctors, rich in humanity".
